Raul Fernandez claimed his maiden MotoGP victory at Phillip Island, holding off Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi after a chaotic race that saw several big names crash out, including Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia.

Under cloudy skies, Marco Bezzecchi made a strong start alongside Fernandez, while pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo slipped back to fourth. After the opening lap, Bezzecchi led from Fernandez and Pedro Acosta.

The leading trio built a small gap before Acosta passed Fernandez for second. Bagnaia once again struggled and dropped to 17th. The first yellow flag appeared on lap five after Johann Zarco crashed at Turn 1. Miller went down shortly after at his home race.

Bezzecchi then served a long-lap penalty, losing the lead to Fernandez. By lap six, the Spaniard was in front ahead of Acosta, Márquez, and Di Giannantonio.

Márquez overtook Quartararo for third, while Fernandez began to extend his advantage. Another yellow flag came out on lap ten as Joan Mir crashed and retired. Bezzecchi recovered to fifth as Quartararo continued to slip back.

At the front, Fernandez stayed in control, increasing his lead as Márquez overtook Acosta for second. Di Giannantonio showed strong late pace and soon joined the fight for the podium.

Bagnaia’s crash from 12th with three laps to go added more drama. In the closing stages, Bezzecchi passed Márquez to secure third place behind Di Giannantonio, who claimed second.

Raul Fernandez crossed the finish line to take his first-ever MotoGP victory, with Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi completing the podium.
